Do more of what makes you happy.
On normal day before this crazy COVID-19 pandemic, my ultimate
motivation to get by on a tiring school then office week is that one (1) day
off (yes, only one cause the other day is review day) that I could just rest
at home, sleep for good 8-10 hours and do whatever I want for the rest of the
day. And every time rest day is over, I would complain how it flew just that.
Now, as a precautionary measure in keeping the virus from
spreading out and prevent endangering every single individual there is, we are
forced to stay at home. It was fine during the first 30 days but then as time
gets old and numbers of infected people skyrockets and we can’t do anything but
stay in the four corners of our home (in my case, dorm which makes it even
worse) I started getting bored, unproductive and anxiety is attacking every
now and then.
So, to keep me sane, here are some of the things I’ve done and
been doing so far:
1. Make-up and photoshoot. I don’t really do make-ups as part of my day-to-day life. Not because
I don’t want to but because I can’t due to my oversensitive skin. Whenever I
got a full-face make-up on, my skin reacts and next thing I know, I have pimple-like
itchy stuff all over my face which could last for a week or more. I’d like to
call it allergy (cause what else could it be?) but I haven’t really had
it tested (lol sorry self).
But one day, so
randomly I thought maybe I should buy make-ups to try on. Anyways, I’m home so if
I get all the zits all over my face, it would just be me, in front of the
mirror who’d see. And so, I searched online for organic make-ups and spent more or less P4,000.00
for few little things. Thankfully, it wasn’t put into waste cause so far, my
skin seems to be okay with it.
Then, off course some little photoshoot after. Lol.
2. Quarantine
work-outs. Since my everyday routine basically don’t involve so much of
physical activities, I considered doing some home workouts with 30-day Fitness
app as my guide to exercise my muscles a bit. Yep, trying to be healthy and
active still physically like y'all should be.
4. Participate
in online discussions about social issues. Although I do this even before quarantine,
I must say, now I’m extraordinarily active. We have all the time to scroll down
on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram today, so I encouraged you to please let your
voice be heard and lend a voice to those who can’t speak-up not because they
don’t want to but because they can't and have no means to do so. Let us all be aware
of our community and participate in discussions and give out opinions if you
can. But please, do a quick fact check first before engaging okay? Let’s
not be a troll. Lol.
5. Learn new
language. I’ve always wanted to learn to speak other languages but never
had I got the chance to do so. One because I’ve got a lot to study and review
for school, second because I am a procrastinator (I'm doing my best not to be one anymore), like almost all the time. But
I’m proud to say that for the most part of this home quarantine, I've learned few Spanish but hopefully I could finish the lessons all the way
through (lol).
Thanks to the Duolingo app. If you also wanna try, you may
download it on Appstore or PlayStore to learn multiple languages, for free.
6. Last and a
must, read books. Let’s all take advantage of the situation by learning new things
and improving our comprehension. As for me, it’s a must to read and review because
I had exams that I just finished and hopefully with good results then afterwards
(but maybe by next year already) a licensure exam to pass. But whenever I have some extra hours, I would read other books to pass the time and be inspired.
Here’s
the most recent ones that I just finished. Good reads to feed my lazy ass some reminders
that hard work and faith does it all, every time.
I know not everyone have the means to be steady
during these hard times and not everyone can choose to not worry but I hope
everyone is staying safe and healthy. You may do all the aforementioned
activities to pass the time while still being
productive but please don’t forget to take advantage of the time you’re at home
to bond with your family. Unfortunately for me, I’m stuck here in my dorm and
can’t travel to our family home in Laguna but I’ll get by.
Let us all
pray as well for the safety of our front liners; may it be medical or essential.
Be considerate and sensitive. Help if you can, donate if you can and lend your
voice if you can.
Now, go back on the first line ever written in this article. That, above all is the most important. Be safe!
