Why Siargao Is The New Place To Visit In The Philippines

Friday, September 21, 2018 Siargao Island, Philippines

Siargao is a tear-drop shape island in the Philippine Sea located at the province of Surigao Del Norte. And last year, Conde Naste Traveler, a luxury and lifestyle travel magazine of New York ranked Cloud 9 in Siargao as the fifth best surfing spot in the world, as reported by The Philippine Star. Since then, the island opened its loving arms to travelers who are calling it their second home. So, if you're also considering of visiting the place here’s the low down on why you should book a flight to Siargao.

1. IT’S A SURFING HAVEN. Since its opening, Siargao hosted several surfing competitions both locally and internationally. And just recently, World Surf League confirmed that Siargao Island will be hosting again the Siargao Cloud 9 Surfing Cup Men's Qualifying Series (QS) 3,000 from September 28 – October 4, 2018. The island will welcome over 100 of the world’s best surfers. (What a treat for enthusiasts and by-standers alike.)

2. IT HAS A NAKED ISLAND. Oops, no! It's not about getting naked while in the island. It's called as it is because “Naked” refers to how the island looks like  because it’s simply a patch of white sand bar, seemingly in the middle of nowhere.

 3. THERE IS A HIDDEN POOL THAT YOU CAN ONLY SWIM IN DURING LOW TIDE. The Magpupungko Rock Pools are tidal pools located an hour and a half away from the main touristy spot of General Luna. Because of the nature of the tides, each visit has to be perfectly timed. Be an hour or two late and the chance to take a dip on the pool will hang loose. It's seemingly an exclusive access only during low tide.

Provided herewith is a Tides Chart as reference as to when is the perfect time to visit.

 4. YOU DON’T GET TO SEE THIS KIND VERY OFTEN. Whenever traveling, most of the time, we crave for a breathtaking view that only that place could possibly offer. Something worth keeping on your memory lane and Siargao has lots of it and one are the palm trees alined almost every road on the island which can be seen during road trips and/or travel from one place to another.

5. THE SUNSETS HERE ARE UNPARALLELED. Nothing perfectly caps off a long and tiring day other than watching the world turn different shades of purple and orange as the sun goes down and realize how fleeting moments are. It simply put things into a different perspective.

If sunset is your thing, make sure you catch it over at Cloud 9 Pier csuse even the houses on stilts look romantic.

Siargao isn't just popular among locals now, as it begins to welcome the aforementioned Siargao Cloud 9 Surfing Cup Men's Qualifying Series among other esteemed events. With the tourist industry booming in Siargao, it is fortune that many of the local carriers run flights to the nearby airport.

There are a couple of trusted airlines in the Philippines that facilitate most of the domestic travelers. For example, Philippines Airlines who has been operating since 1941 and has domestic flights to every major city in the country. They have a connecting flight from Manila to Siargao (Siargao Airport) via Cebu City and direct flights from Clark, Pampanga to Siargao.

Thank you for reading. Looking forward to visiting the place too. Soon
